The site opened as a tavern in 1983 and then became Fitzpatrick's Brewing
Co. in 1990. The brewpub was closed in May 2004 and put up for sale. Old Capitol
opened October 31, 2004 and uses a 30-bbl DME brewhouse to produce its beers.
This brewery
closed in 2009 and moved to Davenport, IA where they reopened as the Great River
Brewery.
